Visual Arts
Mrs. Sarachman
The Visual Arts program is devoted to promoting the study of art as a means of helping students learn more about themselves and the world around them. Through their active participation in a wide range of art experiences, the students develop their knowledge, skills, creativity, and confidence. Although concepts and activities are often introduced in a group setting, the teacher strives to provide individualized instruction and support. The curriculum provides students with the skills needed to create art and helps to develop their aesthetic sense and an understanding of the historical context of art. The Visual Arts program works in connection with other content areas to help enrich the learning experiences of the students.
The sequential curriculum from Nursery to Eighth Grade allows students to build on learned skills, become familiar with art materials, and develop an interest in art history. These skills recur over the grades becoming increasingly sophisticated over time.
Drawing, painting, and sculpture are included on all grade levels.
